Mount Iimori, or Iimoriyama, is a mountain in Nagano Prefecture that stands 1,643 meters in height. The mountain has a trekking route that is suitable even for beginners, and the panoramic views from the top include glimpses of the Yatsugatake mountain range, Mount Fuji, and the Southern Alps.
The Iimoriyama Flower Week event adds an even more picturesque element to this already scenic mountain, with numerous colorful day lilies in bloom for visitors to appreciate. Please note that even though the event is called the Iimoriyama Flower Week, it actually runs for a three week period.
Getting there
For those driving from the Kanto area, the travel time is around 2 hours and 30 minutes from Tokyo to Minamimaki using the Chuo Expressway.
For those visiting via public transport, the closest station to the mountain is Nobeyama Station, which is served by the JR Koumi Line. Fun fact: it's also the highest JR station in Japan.
