Organized by the Tokyo Marathon Foundation, the Tokyo Marathon 2026 will take place on Sunday, March 1, 2026, bringing one of the world’s premier road races back to the streets of the capital. As an Abbott World Marathon Majors Series XVIII event, the race also serves as a MGC Series 2025–26 G1 competition, a selection race for Japan’s national team for the Aichi–Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, and a qualifying event for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. Starting at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building and finishing along Gyoko-dori near Tokyo Station, the officially certified course showcases iconic districts including Asakusa, Ginza, and Nihonbashi, welcoming 39,000 runners across the marathon and 10.7 km races.
In addition to elite and general marathon divisions, the event emphasizes inclusivity with wheelchair races and the 10.7 km categories for junior and youth runners, athletes with disabilities, transplant recipients, and more. Race weekend activities include runner registration and the Tokyo Marathon EXPO at Tokyo Big Sight, alongside a wide range of support events and charity initiatives. With nationwide television coverage on Nippon Television Network and the backing of major public institutions and corporate partners, Tokyo Marathon 2026 promises a dynamic celebration of sport, community, and global competition at the heart of Tokyo.
