French Paintings from the Reims Fine Arts Museum
From September 12th to November 3rd, the Shimane Art Museum is hosting a special exhibition of 19th century French paintings from the Reims Fine Arts Museum collection, and it’s filled with a treasure trove of incredible works. There are masterpieces on display from Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, seen as one of the greats of landscape painting, through to impressionists like Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Camille Pissarro.
Adult admission to the special exhibition is 1000 yen.
The Shimane Art Museum is located a fifteen minute walk from Matsue Station, served by the San'in Main Line.
The museum is also one of the stops on the Lakeline Loop Bus (Kenritsu Bijutsukan-mae) if you'd prefer not to walk. The loop bus can be caught from the station directly, or from numerous tourist spots across Matsue City.
If you elect to drive to the museum, there is a parking lot on the opposite side of Route 9 which offers three hours free parking.
