Tokyo's nights are set to shine a little brighter this March with a new projection mapping event celebrating 30 years of one of the world's most beloved franchises. Beginning March 20th, visitors can experience Pokémon Card Game TOKYO LUMINOUS NIGHT, a large-scale visual spectacle inspired by the globally popular Pokémon series and its iconic trading card game.

While the experience launches on March 20th, no closing date has been announced, suggesting it may continue as part of Tokyo's ongoing nighttime attractions.

Held at the landmark Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, the event transforms the building's massive exterior into a canvas of light and sound. The projection mapping brings the distinctive artwork of Pokémon cards to life in three dimensions, creating an immersive nighttime experience that blends animation, music, and dynamic visuals. Beloved characters such as Pikachu will appear in stunning detail, offering fans a new way to engage with the franchise across generations and cultures.

The launch day will feature a special opening program from 6:15 pm at Tokyo Metropolitan Plaza, including a first screening countdown, guest appearances by Pikachu and other characters, and a brief talk session. The event is free to attend, requires no reservation, and will proceed rain or shine. Regular screenings throughout March are scheduled on weekends and public holidays from 6:30 pm, 7:30 pm, and 9 pm, with additional showings planned.

The installation is part of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's "TOKYO Night & Light" initiative, a year-round project designed to boost nighttime tourism and showcase innovative digital art. Since launching in 2024, the program has drawn over 1.2 million visitors, establishing itself as a major attraction in the city.
