If Japan was already on your Pokémon travel bucket list, there’s now a brand-new reason to head north to Ishikawa. Starting July 7th, 2026, Noto Satoyama Pokémon With You Airport will officially open its doors, transforming the existing Noto Satoyama Airport into the world’s first airport named after Pokémon. The limited-time makeover will run through to September 2029, and it sounds like something straight out of a dream trip for longtime fans.
The project is part of a partnership between Ishikawa Prefecture and the Pokémon With You Foundation, which was created to support tourism and bring smiles back to the region following the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake. However, this isn’t just a few themed posters slapped onto an airport wall. The entire space is being turned into a Pokémon-filled experience from the moment travelers arrive.
Inside the airport’s huge two-story atrium, visitors will be greeted by a giant Pikachu balloon soaring alongside an airplane, surrounded by Flying-type Pokémon decorations. In fact, all 111 Flying-type Pokémon discovered as of May 2026 will appear somewhere throughout the airport. The arrival lobby will also feature recovery-support artwork inspired by Noto’s landscapes, alongside giant monuments of Pikachu, Plusle, and Minun.
There’s plenty for fans to do beyond taking photos. The observation deck, called “Pikachu’s Village,” will feature countless Pikachu gathered together in a satoyama-inspired rural landscape scene. Visitors can also unlock original short videos on their smartphones while exploring the airport, including a story called “Fly, Bagon!” about a Bagon dreaming of flight.
Hungry after all that Pokémon hunting? The airport’s Restaurant Annon will serve exclusive Pokémon-themed pancakes and drinks, while airport shops will stock limited-edition souvenirs like luggage tags, suitcase belts, shirts, and keychains featuring original “Sky of Hope” artwork.
The Pokémon adventure doesn’t stop at the terminal either. Specially wrapped Pokémon buses will connect travelers to destinations around the Noto Peninsula, including Pokémon-themed sightseeing spots like the Wakura Pokémon Footbath and the Sylveon with LOVE monument in Suzu City.
