After visiting Higashi Honganji (East Honganji) Temple, don’t hesitate to walk another 10 minutes to visit the famous Nishi Honganji (West Honganji). Boasting huge walls and large dark wooden structures, it is easily spotted from afar.

The temple bears ornate structures, detailed architectural elements and tall wooden gates. It is also recognized as one of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto in UNESCO World Heritage site list, making it worth your time to visit while you’re in Kyoto.
