Many Japanese people don't know it, but Fukui is a treasure-trove of traditional craftsmanship. Here in this Echizen Bamboo Doll Village one of Fukui's traditions, intricate bamboo dolls, are being created day and night by skilled craftsmen. In this village, a workshop, studio, gallery, souvenir shop and cafe are housed in a stylish building and visitors can appreciate artistic craftsmanship with their own eyes. If you so dare, you can also try creating your own bamboo doll. The entrance fee is 300 yen for adults. The village is located in Sakai City. A bus is available from Eiheiji-guchi station of Echizen Railway.
