The unassuming-looking Mishima Shrine in Toon is home to some interesting wooden statuary dating from the Northern and Southern Courts period, spanning from 1336 to 1392. Without their original bows and arrows, the archers in the gateway appear to be disco dancing. Truly, wood is the soul of Japan.
